in Sominy


The village Sominy is in the north of Poland - at the edge of the current Kaschubei. Earlier, than this part of Poland to Germany belonged, it was named rear Pomerania. Today Sominy belongs(Wojewodschaft Pomorze) to the community Studzienice/Stüdnitz which is 8 km next to Sominy, and to the circle and city Bytow/Bütow, 20 km from Sominy.
Sominy with its 290 inhabitants lies at the flat sominy lake connected with the Dywanski and the Kruszyner lake.
First mentions of the village come from the year 1313 n. Christ. The village was populated through Lutheranian people. Worth seeing is the Marien church, which was constructed in the years 1755/1757 as a lutheranian church. To the end of 1945 in sominy lived exclusively German inhabitants. Today the present inhabitants are Kashubians. Worth seeing also the old sheep cottages, build in the beginning of the XIX century, and the old wooden school.
A great stud in the village invites all horse lovers.
The village has two groceries, a restaurant and a bar with all kinds of beer.
